Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga (Colombia)

At the request of the Bilbao Council, the Director General of Bilbao Metropoli-30 presents Metropolitan Bilbao’s process of revitalisation and strategic planning to a delegation from Colombia made up of leaders and executives from the Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga, on a visit coordinated by UN-Habitat.

The topics on the agenda are as follows: Governance and financing of the metropolitan area (public-private partnerships, contributions from local councils, project finance, and contributions from the central government), including such aspects as transport and public services.

In particular, the Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga is launching its Strategic Metropolitan Plan, which renders it extremely important to review the planning figures and the way this planning is turned into public policy in the municipalities within the metropolitan area.
